Privacy Policy

Budget by Dunit ("we", "us") is a personal finance tool built by Dunit Technology Group. This page explains what data we collect, why, and your rights over it. Plain English first, legal exactness second.

1. What we collect

When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, profile picture, and a unique Google ID. We do not see your Google password or any other Google account data.

When you use the app, we store:

Transactions you enter (amount, category, date, optional note)
Budgets you set
Goals and progress
Your currency preferences and privacy-mode setting
If you enable it: a hashed TOTP secret and backup codes for two-factor authentication
Conversations you have with the Dunit AI Advisor, so context carries between messages
Payment records if you upgrade to a paid plan (handled by our processor Fygaro — we never see your card details)

2. What we do not collect

Your bank credentials. Ever. We don't have Plaid, Yodlee, or any account-connection. You log your own transactions or import CSVs.
Your card number. Payment processing is handled by Fygaro and they don't share card details with us.
Browsing data from outside this app. We don't run analytics that follow you around the web.
Your contacts, photos, or device data beyond what's necessary to render the page (screen size, browser type).

3. How we use it

Your financial data is used only to:

Display your dashboard, charts, and reports to you
Generate insights when you ask the AI Advisor a question
Send you usage emails (renewal reminders, security alerts) — we never share these

When you message the AI Advisor, your question plus a structured summary of your finances (categories, totals, budgets) is sent to Anthropic's Claude API. Anthropic processes the request and returns a response. Anthropic's commercial terms prohibit using customer API inputs for model training.

4. Who we share it with

Three categories of service providers see fragments of your data, only as needed to operate the app:

Google — handles sign-in (OAuth). We send your Google ID back; they return your name, email, and picture.
Anthropic — processes AI Advisor queries. Receives a structured summary of your finances when you ask a question.
Fygaro — handles payment processing for paid plans. Receives your name, email, and the amount due.

We do not sell your data. We do not run ads. There is no third category.

5. Where we store it

Your data lives on encrypted servers in our hosting provider's data center (Namecheap Private Hosting, United States). Backups are encrypted at rest. Connections use TLS 1.2+ in transit.

6. How long we keep it

For as long as your account is open. If you delete your account (Settings → Delete account), all transactions, budgets, goals, and AI chat history are removed within 30 days. Payment records are kept for 7 years for tax and accounting compliance.

7. Your rights

You can:

Access your data — visible in the app at any time
Export it — Settings has a "Download my data" option (coming soon; in the meantime, email us)
Correct mistakes — edit any transaction, goal, or budget directly
Delete your account — Settings → Delete account, or email us
Turn off AI — uninstall by not using the chat bubble

8. Children

This service is not intended for users under 18. If we learn we've collected data from a minor, we'll delete it.

9. Cookies

We use one essential cookie to keep you logged in (session cookie, expires when you close your browser). We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll email registered users and update the "Last updated" date at the top.
